Fat transfer for facial volume and contour

Using your own fat to restore youthful fullness, naturally and lastingly.

As faces age, they lose volume in the cheeks, temples, and around the mouth, and facial fat transfer offers a way to restore that fullness using the patient's own fat, with some advantages over filler for the right candidate.

The procedure harvests fat by liposuction from a donor area, purifies it, and injects it into the areas of the face that have hollowed. Because it uses living tissue, the result feels natural, and the portion of fat that survives is permanent, unlike temporary filler. It can restore youthful contour broadly across the face and is sometimes combined with a facelift, where it addresses volume loss that lifting alone does not. The trade-offs: a portion of transferred fat is reabsorbed, so surgeons overfill and results settle over months, and it is a more involved procedure than a filler appointment, with real downtime.

Fat transfer suits patients wanting natural, lasting volume restoration and comfortable with a surgical procedure, while filler remains the choice for those wanting a quick, reversible, no-downtime touch-up. The two are complementary tools for the same underlying problem of volume loss. For broad, durable facial rejuvenation in someone already having surgery or wanting a permanent solution, fat transfer is an excellent natural-tissue option that addresses contour in a way that simply tightening skin cannot.
